Taylor Thai
A new Thai restaurant has finally opened in Erskinsville and it was said that the ex-chef of Spice I am Darlinghurst has been recruited. The location is definitely not packed like Newtown or Darlinghurst, apparently Erskinsville is still quite ‘untouched’ when it comes to food. The restaurant is beside the lobby of an apartment at 12 Eve St, I sense the residents hungry for Thai.  It was...

Sop Konro
Grilled beef ribs soup, another traditional Makassar food. I love sop konro but it’s so fatty and oily. However, I did manage to bring its spices back home to try cooking it!

Makassar, Indonesia
Firstly, apologies for the sudden disappearance in this blog. I was going back for my holidays to Indonesia and this time round I had to accompany my family to Makassar which is the provincial capital of South Sulawesi.  Then again, I come back weighing 3 kgs extra! So you know how good the food is and what I have in store… In Makassar, it seems that one chili on the table is not enough....

Bread & Circus
Alexandria is starting to become a new nest for cafes, and Bread & Circus is just one of the cafes that have grabbed my attention for so long already. There is only one word to describe B&C - healthy. It is located right next to legendary Campos Coffee in a rustic warehouse that opens up to the outdoors for the sunlight to scorch in.  The place itself was uniquely decorated with...

Bistro Vinden
It was a flawless sunday; sunny but with shades of winter. A perfect day indeed to go out for a roadtrip to Hunter Valley. Luckily, a friend, who knows her way through the food-globe charters, have suggested we go to Vinden Estate Winery as she had read that they supply their wines to famous fine-dining restaurants like Becasse, Aria and Quay.  We decided to have lunch at the estate, in its...

Golden Century Seafood
Where else can you get fresh live seafood served with Hong Kong style sauce? To me, Golden Century holds the crown for fresh seafood, especially abalone. It’s probably uncommon for most of you, but I like to choose my own abalones that gets served on my table. Well, not me frankly but my dad. So whenever we eat seafood in this place we would always get our pick fresh from the fish tanks in...
